Anne Paternoster Obituary

Anne Paternoster

AGE: 79 • Tinton Falls

Anne Paternoster, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, surrounded by family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born Anne Koppel on March 26, 1932 in Saarbrucken Germany, she came to the United States following World War II and graduated from Flemington High School. She later moved to Ocean Grove, where she met and married her husband, John in 1956. They lived in Neptune for many years before moving to Tinton Falls five years ago. She worked part time over the years, but her main love was volunteering. She volunteered for many years at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in the library and coaching girls' sports and was a former president of the Monmouth County Women's Club. More recently, she volunteered her time at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Ackerman Federation Thrift Shop. She was very compassionate and truly loved helping others. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and enjoyed bowling, was a voracious reader and always made time for her grandsons and great-grandson, the apples of her eye.

She is predeceased by her parents, Louise and Karl Koppel. Anne is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John; two daughters and sons in law, Barbara and Douglas De Wysocki of Tinton Falls, and Mary and Frank Chinnici Jr. of Neptune; two grandsons, Joseph Vitagliano and Michael Vitagliano; his fianc?, Carly Pittman; a great-grandson, Travis Vitagliano, the light of her life; a sister, Alexis Van Natta of Santa Maria, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa and the late Al Cholowinski and Peggy and Jerry Diglio; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Joanne Falcone, Pat Fariello, Grace Libretto and many others.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 18 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center James F. Ackerman Federation, 1345 Campus Pkwy., Suite A2, Neptune, NJ 07753.

To the Paternoster Family....my deepest condolences for the loss of a wonderful person. I remember spending so many days and nights at your house and of course going to Sterns to visit Anne while she was working. Time and events have seperated us but I will always cherish the fond memories of her. It has been a pleasure reacquainting with John and recalling good times about the days of watching the yankees at your house. I wish you all peace and strength to get through this difficult time. Heaven received another angel! Caroline Conover Brown
