Lonzy Reeves

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Lonzy "Lonnie" Reeves, 90, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016. Born in McDuffie County, GA, and a resident of Aiken County, SC, since 1961, he was a son of the late Jim and Fannie Viola Gay Reeves. A true southern gentleman and staunch Democrat, Mr. Lonnie was an entrepreneur. He managed the family farm at the age of 10 after his father died. He opened his first store at 15 years old. He was in the National Guard for several years. He owned several convenience stores and Lonnie's Barbeque in Clearwater, SC and Augusta, GA. His Barbeque, especially his sauce, is still fondly remembered and talked about today. He was a member of Clearwater First Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing with his fishing buddies and discussing various subjects with his family and friends. He never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Gladys Virginia Youngblood Reeves. Surviving family members include his children, Connie Boswell, North Augusta, SC Patsy Reeves, Naples, FL and Tracy Reeves and his wife, Kathleen, Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Shannon Davis, Casey Jenks, Justin Reeves, Cheyenne Rotunno, Wesley Reeves and Kaitlin Reeves and great-grands, Brannon Collins, Kenneth Reed Davis III, Greyson Davis, Ben Reeves and the twins, Ella and Nellie Reeves. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2016, at 3 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastors John Bolin and Earl Carter officiating.
