Arnold Wenzel Obituary
AGE: 99 • Rumson
Arnold Wenzel, owner and founder of AW Imported Auto Parts, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was 2 months shy of his 100th birthday. Arnold was born in Rome, Italy and traveled to America as a 6-month old baby. The ship sailed through rocky seas and the captain said that a small baby would never make it to America. Arnold proved him wrong by nearly 100 well-lived and well-loved years. He lived in New York City as a child and then moved to New Jersey. He spent his last 40 years living in Rumson and running his business, AW Imported Auto Parts, in Eatontown.
Arnold is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gloria; his 5 daughters, Holly Wenzel, Evette Polczynski, Stacey Giglio, Billie Bailkin, and Terry Mellilo; one son, Marc Wenzel; 4 sons-in-law, Michael Bailkin, Jack Giglio, Eric Polczynski, and Peter Mellilo, and oodles of grandchildren. Arnold always said until his last day that his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was adored by all. No one ever tired of listening to his stories of going back to Italy when Mussolini was in power or working during the Great Depression to help support his family. He was still working 6 days a week right up to the end. He loved his business and all of his devoted employees. Arnold was the true American success story.
A memorial service will be held at the home of Stacey and Jack Giglio at 8 Sailers Way in Rumson on July 17th at 7:00PM. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Rumson First Aid Squad at www.RumsonEMS.org.

I remember Billie calling Mr. Wenzel "Mr. Dooodlehoffer!" I was so sad to hear of his passing. You are ALL in my thoughts and prayers. He lived such a long and wonderful life and that is so amazing....but I am sure your pain of the loss of him is great. Please know I am thinking of each and every one of you.
