Audrey Keim Obituary

Audrey R. Keim

AGE: 58 • Forked River

Audrey Roberta Keim (nee Zehntner), 58, of Forked River died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at home following a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer.

Born in Morristown, Audrey grew up in Brick and graduated from Brick Township High School in 1975. She received a degree in psychology in 1978 from Boston College. Audrey was employed as an Administrative Analyst by the New Jersey State Department of Health before retiring in 2012. Following retirement, she and her husband started 48 Paws Woodworking, a small business constructing wooden crafts for the home and garden. They sold them at various craft shows throughout the area. In addition to woodworking, her passions included all animals, gardening and sports (Let's Go Mets!).

Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Muriel Zehntner of Brick ad Colchester, CT. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Christopher, sister, Joan Cordier and her husband James of Hebron, CT., in-laws and their spouses, Richard and Kathryn Keim of Bayville, Robert Lone and the late Elizabeth Keim, Kevin Keim and the late Jacqui Keim, both of North Carolina, niece, Jaimie Cordier of Astoria, NY, nephews Ryan Cordier of Hebron, Peter and Theresa Keim, Keith and Beth Keim and Michael Keim, all of North Carolina.

Audrey will be remembered most for her cheerful outlook on life, the love she both shared with and received from family, friends and animals alike along with that beaming, radiant smile.

Friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:30 pm at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a contribution in Audrey's memory to the Popcorn Park Zoo, P.O. Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731.

I will always remember Audrey for her ability to radiate happiness with her sparkling eyes and smile. Animals were blessed by her caring ways and the Mets could not have a more devoted fan. Family and friends came first with Audrey, and I know she will be watching over all of us in heaven.

RIP Audrey, you will be missed. The NY Mets now have a beautiful angel in the outfield to cheer them on. Spring training won't be the same without you.

I worked with Audrey for many years; she was very conscientious, friendly and helpful. Although the last time I saw her was at her retirement party in 2012, we communicated though Facebook. Although we rooted for different ice hockey teams, Audrey, the Devils, and me, the Rangers, we shared our enthusiasm as Mets fans! I am glad that Audrey saw the Mets play in the World Series, but am saddened that she passed away just before the start of Spring Training; I know that Audrey and Chris went to watch the Mets in Spring Training every year, at least for the past few years. My deepest condolences to Chris and to the rest of Audrey's family as well.
