I remember most watching with Barbara her dancing contests. She was the original dancing with the stars celebrity!!

I looked forward to every time that Barbara walked through the doors of the YMCA. We didn't know each other well, other than to say hello and goodbye. I would try to run across the desk and get the door for her or check her in so she wouldn't have to bother with her membership card. Anything that would make this very nice lady's day a little bit easier. She would come in a few times a week usually to do the bike. She was just so inspiring to me. I wished I had known her more than I did. The last time we spoke, I wished her a happy birthday, and we talked about what she was doing for her special day. I remember it was something with her son and she was looking forward to it. Recently I noticed that she hadn't been in for a while and decided to look up her account only to find it was now inactive. I am just so deeply saddened to hear of her passing. My prayers to the family for their great loss. She will be missed by so many. This place won't be the same without her. Rest in peace Barbara

Women today still have numerous barriers to overcome in regards to the long road to equal rights. Hopefully, they will always remember that women like Barbara were amongst the original pavers of that road. Strong, brave and determined women who laid the pavers with one arm while conforting babes with the other and did so only after working long hours at half pay!
Good-bye for now dear Barbara; you've earned a place on a similarly well travelled but much less bumpy road that stretches before you...
Peace and Grace,
