Bertha V. Martz

YORK Bertha V. (Brodbeck) Martz, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert W. Martz, who died on June 30, 2013. Mrs. Martz was born in York, on January 26, 1936, daughter of the late Ralph S. and Dorothy I. (Kreiser) Brodbeck. Bertha was employed for 13 years as a presser for South Pine Nightwear, Inc. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Spring Grove. Bertha was a volunteer for the American Heart Assoc., American Cancer Society, the Arthritis Foundation, and the York Hospital Fete for 31 years. She served as a girl scout leader and 20 years ago she started the South Pine Nightwear Reunion. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Brindley of Dover; three brothers, Paul W. Brodbeck of York, Theodore S. Brodbeck of Dover, and Terry L. Brodbeck of Spring Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Baboian. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Final resting place will be beside her husband in Shiloh Cemetery.
