Brian McCarthy Obituary
AGE: 68 • Howell
Brian T. McCarthy, 68 of Howell, passed away on Thursday September 29 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, surrounded by his family. Brian was born in Newark, grew up in Orange and was a graduate of Carteret High School. Brian and his family have lived in Howell for 28 years. He was a graduate of Monmouth University.
Brian enjoyed a long and diversified career in law enforcement. He worked for the Essex County Sheriff's Office, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the division of Criminal Justice for the State of New Jersey from which he retired in 1995. Afterward he spent nearly 10 years working as an investigator for the Saint Barnabas Hospital Corporation. Brian belonged to several fraternal organizations and the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh. He loved playing golf, spending time with his family and playing with his grandson Ryan who he adored.
Brian was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret (Finucane) McCarthy. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary nee Mahony, his son Brendan and his wife Ashley McCarthy of Howell, and his daughter Meghan and her husband Jay Ronan of Howell, his grandson Ryan Ronan, his brother Peter and his wife Joan McCarthy, his sister Sheila and her husband Joe Nugent and several nieces and nephews.
Brian was loved dearly by his family and friends for his dedication, his kindness and his boundless generosity. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday October 2, 2016, from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday October 3, 2016 at 11 am at St. William the Abbot Church, 2740 Lakewood Allenwood Road, Howell.
