Carol Garvey Obituary

(Asbury Park Press)

CAROL ANN GARVEY
AGE: 66 TINTON FALLS
Carol Ann Garvey (Lee), died Saturday night, Nov. 28, 2009, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after fighting valiantly through injury and various health problems since her retirement just 11 months earlier. She was 66. She was born in Chicago, Ill. and settled in Tinton Falls in 1974. She worked for more than 30 years as an operating room nurse at Riverview Medical Center. In addition to working full time, she was actively involved in all three of her children's lives and spent years as a Pop Warner cheerleading coach. The ultimate caregiver, her selfless nature and quiet strength continue to be an example for her friends and family. Although she was denied the fulfilling retirement she deserved, she made the most of the time she had with her family, particularly reveling in the time spent with her five precious grandchildren. She was born to be a nurse, a wife, a mother and a grandmother and she fulfilled each of those roles with class, warmth, strength and love.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Eugene Garvey of Tinton Falls; her son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Ann Marie Garvey of Cleveland, Ohio; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Michael Gardner of Red Bank; and her daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Christopher Erwin of Barnegat. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, David and Leanne Lee of Gunnison, Colo.; her precious grandchildren, Megan, Sean, Grace, Ella and Colin; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at St. Leo the Great in Lincroft, followed by a burial service in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Liver Foundation at www.liverfoundation.org.

Carol was an amazing woman in many areas of life. We are so sorry to hear of her passing. Stratford Road would never been the same if she had not brightened that corner of the street. What fun we had together..
She will be missed by many. God's blessings on her family. She is at peace now.
