It is with tremendous sadness that I read this obituary. Brother Christian was my math teacher in 1975 and 1976 while I was attending CBA. I remember him as an excellent teacher and motivator. Math was my favorite subject during high school due largely to Brother Christian (and his fellow math teachers). I know that he will be greatly missed.

RIP Brother Christian. I had you for two years of math at Bishop Loughlin in the 60s. You never could quite figure out why I couldn't figure it out, but you never gave up on me. We were lucky to have you in our lives.

I had Brother Christian for my final three years of math at Bishop Loughlin. I graduated from Loughlin in 1964. He was my homeroom teacher in my junior year and I had the opportunity to work with him as a member on Loughlin's yearbook staff.
I found Brother Christian to be a kind and caring individual. He loved his mathematics and he had the great ability to transfer that love for math to his students. I learned much from this gentle man.
Besides being a great teacher he became a friend of mine. He was invited to my wedding which he kindly attended. We have kept in touch over the years.
The Christian Brother's community has lost a shining example of what their community was formed to do, teach young men Catholic values while giving them a solid education.
He will be dearly missed.

I was lucky to have Brother Christian as a Math teacher at CBA in Lincroft in 1977 and 1979. As it turned out, he was the best math teacher I ever had and he gave the momentum to overcome diffculties with many math courses to follow. His love of Math was clearly evident and made it "OK" for others to love Math as well. Before Borther Christian I never would have imagined competing in math realy races in the North Shore Math League, but there we were. I also remeber being invted to help tally text book purchase totals which we managed to turn into a competition. Math is fun. Thanks, Brother Christian.

He was my homeroom teacher and Math teacher for about two years at Bishop Loughlin in 1958-59. I learned more that Math from him - patience, consideration and persistence. He was so good to his "boys." I consider him a treasure and inspiration to selfless teaching thru the high school years and I was fortunate to be in touch with him by email and mail these past two years. He has touched so many young boys' lives. May blessings never cease to him.

I knew Brother Christian from Sacred Heart Highbridge, where I graduated in 1955, although he was not my teacher. I never saw him again until the Summer of 2000, when driving to the Jersey shore, I just decided to stop at CBA for the first time to check the whereabouts of my 7th/8th grade teacher - Brother James Leahy.
As soon as I entered the lobby, there was Brother Christian, looking pretty much like I last saw him with science/math books under his arm. I immediately introduced myself and in mid-sentence Brother said " ... Oh yes, your Father was the Fireman with four children." I was stunned and asked him how he could possibly have remembered that. He responded very simply and matter-of-factly - "We never forget one of our Boys."
I have related this story many times since as a tribute to Brother Christian's dedicated devotion to service and I think it only proper and appropriate to do so today. He is truly remembered by all who met him.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni. I have informedthe Jasper community that I personally can reach through Jasper Jottings. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
