Daniel Evarts Obituary
AGE: 83 • Neptune
Daniel E. Evarts III, 83, of Neptune, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. Dan was the son of Charlotte Everitt Evarts and Daniel E. Evarts, Jr. and grew up in South Orange. He attended Newark Academy, graduating in 1948, and was also a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Dan served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1954, travelling around the world on the USS Tarawa, and was editor of the Ship's newspaper. Dan was the owner for 26 years of Evart's Associates, a commercial interior design company in Union. After his retirement, Dan substituted for ten years in the Tinton Falls Grammar School and Monmouth Regional High School.
Dan was a Fair Haven resident for 37 years. He was an avid freshwater fisherman throughout his entire life. He spent summers on Green Lake in Maine. Dan was a member of the Root Beer and Checker Club. He was also a member of the Colts Neck Reformed Church.
He was predeceased by his son, Craig Thomas Evarts in 1989. Dan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol; his son, Scott Evarts and his wife Jill of Fair Haven, and his grandson, Creston Thomas Evarts of Red Bank.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Daniel's memory to a charity of your choice.
