Hard to believe it has been 16 years since Dan's death. I wore a "Russo, Newman and Doyle" t-shirt for years from his political campaign for the Assembly. I am proud to have known him.

I just heard the sad news about Danny. I first knew him as a Board of Education member and was impressed with his acumen. As he gained other positions in Brick and the State, his real person demeanor never changed. He was always ready to do a good turn for
anyone. His intelligence and ability to communicate were excellent. We have lost a good man.

We have many happy memories of "campaign days" and still have the tie that proudly displays "Russo, Newman & Doyle." Dan made a positive difference in his life -- what more can be said?

I have lived my entire life in Brick (grew up with Ricky)and have always had pleasure in listening to and speaking with Mr. Newman. He always had a moment to offer guidance when asked for. I have fond memories, of a man bigger then most would dream to be and with the heart to match. Thank you for being the man I knew and respected. My sympathy to the family. His life made many smile

To All the Newman's,
God Bless you during this very difficult time. You have lost two huge people in your lives in one month! My family prays for you as you walk this difficult journey in the coming days. To lose the matriarch and patriarch in a month is too much to handle for anyone. God be with you.

I was saddened to hear of the "Mayors" passing. I had the honor to run on his ticket in 1989,and it was my introduction to what I came to regard as very sincere and dedicated man who loved Brick Township. He always spoke for those who many times did not have a voice.

To Aunt Jeane and all of my cousins, For as long as I could remember, I was always proud to say, "That's my Uncle Danny". I can't imagine the emptiness that you all must feel with his sudden appointment with God. I'm sure God will make him Chairman of some committee in Heaven. My sincere condolences to all of you. Luv ya all, Billy

Mayor Newman was the keynote speaker when I graduated from Brick Twp. High School in 1984. I remember being so inspired by his address to the graduating class. He was a great communicator. I really appreciated the contributions he made to Brick in the area of youth sports while I was growing up. I also fondly remember ice cream cones at the Carvel store in Brick owned by the Newman family when I was a kid. Brick has lost a true friend. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Newman family.

Mayor Newman (he preferred to be called "Mayor", and he deserved the respect it connotated) lived for his family---and for the "Family of Brick".
Brick Hospital, paved roads, our own Police force, athletic fields and a Reservoir are his legacy-together with his children and grandchildren. A great man is sorely missed, more today than ever.

Dan Newman was in my opinion the best mayor Brick ever had. Even if you did not agree with his approach to everything, he always put the township first. When he lost, it was the end of an era we will never reclaim. Heartfelt sympathy to all of his family.
