David Burrows Obituary
Surf City, NJ - David Bruce Burrows, 97, of Surf City, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2018. Bruce was born in Atlantic City, where he attended the Friends School. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during World War II. Upon graduation from the University of Denver, he accepted a position with the Noyes Corporation where he managed the Historic Towne of Smithville, and later the Ram's Head Inn. Upon retirement, Bruce worked at what was ultimately his most enjoyable position, keeper of "Old Barney" on Long Beach Island.
Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Lila, his parents, Dr. Garfield and Katherine Burrows, and his brother, Garfield Burrows, Jr. He is survived by his many children, and their partners, respectively: Katherine Wilkins and Denny; Susan Einsel and Craig; Teri Cunningham; Theresa Vosseller and Lloyd; Mary Koerwer and John; Joseph Hanselmann and Maria; Robert Hanselmann and Catherine; as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Private services were under the direction of the Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd., Ship Bottom. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company, 713 E. Long Beach Blvd, Surf City, NJ 08008 in Mr. Burrows' Memory.
