David G. Fisher

AGE: 84 • Lakewood

David G. Fisher, 84, of Lakewood passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland and moved to the United States in 1973. David and Helen resided in Kearny for twenty years before retiring to Leisure Village East, Lakewood, NJ. David proudly served for the British Army, where he took up boxing. After serving his time in the military he became a professional boxer in Scotland; then when he came to America he was a pipe fitter, working in the Brooklyn Navy Yards.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen in 1999. David is also predeceased in death by his grandson, Sean. David is survived by four sons, John Fisher, David and his wife Judy Fisher, James and his wife Sheila Fisher, and Andrew Fisher; one daughter, Elaine and Vito Ferrera; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Vito Ferrera, and James Fisher; David is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Kristen.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 3pm to 8 pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick, NJ 08723. There will be a funeral service offered on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm at the funeral home, cremation will be held privately.
