David T. Kammerer

AGE: 69 • Manasquan

David T. Kammerer, 69, loving husband and father, was taken home to be with his Lord on August 29, 2012 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, surrounded by family and prayer. Dave graduated from Wall High School in 1961 and Penn State University in 1966. He was a dedicated and passionate art teacher at Long Branch Middle School for 34 years. He was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manasquan, where he was also a former deacon and elder. He possessed a great love of the church choir and was an actively involved member for over 20 years. Charter member and Commodore of the Garden State Model Boaters, Dave was a fine craftsman and artist who took pride in his work. Dave has been described by many friends and family members as giving wonderful hugs. He was an affectionate, thoughtful, generous man.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Joan Kammerer; his son Ken Kammerer; his daughter Susan Kammerer Pellescki; and his granddaughter Olivia Isabelle Pellescki.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 16 Virginia Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736, on September 11, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.

Dave was my Art teacher at Welsh Valley Jr High. I learned so much from him, and just felt happy in his class. I´m so sad to just now learn he died at such a young age. He was a wonderful person.

Dear Joan and Family,I was very lucky to work side by side with Dave for a long time as an art teacher in LBMS. We had alot of laughs and he helped me during hard times. Always with a smile we sometimes fought like husband and wife. Then we would start to laugh. He will be surely missed by everyone he touched. May you and your family get thru this difficult time. I was so saddened to learn of Dave's passing. Dave, Ray, John and Barney were always sporting smiles as they would listen to my choir every morning at the Long Branch Middle School. In 1983, these Industrial Arts teachers welcomed me with open arms to the middle school. May God bless you Dave and your loving family! Rest in peace, my friend!
