David Stump Obituary

David Stump

David Stump, 60, passed away on December 27, 2020, following a brief illness. He died at home in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, surrounded by family and friends.

David was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, with one brother and four sisters. Demonstrating a passion for music at an early age, David became an accomplished pianist and composer. In 2003, David moved to Monmouth Beach to help care for his mother, Barbara, and niece, Kay. "Uncle Davey" quickly settled into his new community, embracing his role as a caretaker. He rapidly forged an unbreakable bond with Kay, becoming her best friend and life coach.

With a generous spirit, David readily answered the call for help in times of need. When his mother's Parkinson's Disease became advanced, David attended to her. After learning that a neighbor required help caring for a parent, he stood ready to lend a hand. Still grieving the loss of his precious poodle Ollie, David found room in his home for a kitty after her owner died.

David had a keen intellect and varied interests.

His pursuit of the arts ranged from classical concerts at Carnegie Hall to cheesy sci-fi movies. Whether exploring historical sites in Poland or glamping in Pennsylvania, David loved an adventure. He also enjoyed game nights at home, reading a good book, or venturing out with his friends.

David had a tremendous sense of humor, bringing joy to others through his frivolity and irreverence. In profound moments, David's soft-spoken words were sincere and wise. His love for family and friends was boundless and unconditional.

David was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth Stump and Barbara McDonald, his brother-in-law, Phil Franzese, and his beloved dog, Oliver. He is survived by his siblings, Yvonne Franzese, Deborah Fuller (Orvie), Cheryl Stump, Danny Stump (Cindy) and Rhonda Churchward (Ken); nieces and nephews, Kay, Thomas, Aubrey, Sean, Thomas S., Cale, Emily Morgan, Maggie, Jody, Daniel, Tori, Greg, David, Colton, and Tova; his uncle, Marvin McDonald, and other cherished family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in David's memory to the American Civil Liberties Union, www.aclu.org, or the Monmouth County SPCA, www.monmouthcountyspca.org, Mailing addresses are available on the websites.

A celebration of David's life will take place at his Monmouth Beach home in June. Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, NJ, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

He was always kind, and a great listener. He was also a very private person. When he knew his privacy was protected, he would share some of his innermost feelings. I love him so much and this is really difficult. He was also a beautiful singer. You hardly heard him sing because he preferred playing piano, and composing. He liked classical music best. There are so many funny times that I remember. He had a wry sense of humor, and could act so serious when he was really joking. He is one of my two brothers. I will miss him greatly, but will never, ever forget him.

David and I were in the same class and went to Boone Station. We rode the bus together everyday. I will always remember him as a kind and gentle person that was nice to everyone. My condolences to his family and friends.

David certainly accomplished many feats since his Boone Station days where he dazzled us with his piano skills. He certainly shined a positive light on everyone around him. Condolences to you all.
