Denise LoBiondo Obituary

(Asbury Park Press)

DENISE GUARINO
LO BIONDO
AGE: 58 RUMSON
Denise LoBiondo, an inspirational and beautiful person to all whose life she touched, passed on from this life to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at the age of 58. Mourning her loss is her beloved husband of 36 years, Jimmy LoBiondo, and their four devoted children: her eldest son, James LoBiondo Jr., her loving only daughter, Nicole, and dedicated sons, Christopher and Paul LoBiondo. The entire family remained at her side constantly during the last several years, caring for Denise at home as she bravely accepted the physical challenges of battling Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).
Denise and Jimmy's family home in Rumson was the center of life for the LoBiondo family, a warm and special place open to relatives and friends who gathered there together for holidays, and celebrations. Denise and Jimmy, a special and devoted couple, worked together for many years developing the family business, Surfrider Beach Club in Sea Bright, providing the atmosphere for happy and memorable summer activities for generations of families in the area.
Everyone loved Denise and truly admired her for her spirit, her generosity, and human kindness. Among her philanthropic deeds was her support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Joan Dancy Foundation, and as a volunteer for the Association of Retarded Citizens. Most importantly, since Denise was diagnosed with ALS several years ago, she spent a great deal of her time selflessly comforting others with the disease and assisting families who valued her love and counsel. A graduate of Long Branch High School, Denise was chosen as the school's first and only "Centennial Queen," an honor bestowed every 100 years to a person whom exudes grace and beauty. At Monmouth University, Denise was an avid student of art and history. A talented artist, Denises' paintings grace her family's home.
Cherished by her family, Denise was the daughter of June Guarino and the late Arnold Guarino. She was the older sister to Sandra Murray, Jeanne Camassa, Cheryl Moothart, her beloved brother, Kenneth Guarino, and sisters-in-law, Marianne Rhodes and Ginny Marasco. She was beloved "Aunt Dee" to her niece and nephews who always considered her to be their "favorite." Her smile lit up the room and her inner love and spirit radiated from her beautiful persona. Denise will remain in spirit where we all will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at Holy Cross Church, Rumson. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Joan Dancy and PALS Foundation, Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank, NJ 07701. If you wish, the family invites you to leave a letter of condolence at www.damianofuneralhome.com Yellow roses were always her favorite.

Dear LoBiando family,
It was an honor and a privelege to get to know you and to be a part of Denise's life for a short period during the early stages of her battle with ALS. I gave her massages at the house and wished every time that her disease would not progress and that she would get stronger. As that failed to happen I was in awe of her courage and grace as she persevered to do her best and get the most out of life. She was indeed an inspiration to all that knew her and a gift to all the lives she touched. My heart goes out to all of you that must miss her terribly. Over time the memories of her blessed life will surely replace the memories of her struggles. Personally, I remember her smile and undying faith and love for her family.
Take care and God bless.
