Dennis Letts Obituary
Lakewood - Dennis E. Letts, age 74, of Manchester, NJ, formerly of Lakewood, passed away on Thursday March 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Dennis was born July 2, 1943 in Long Branch, NJ. He was a Lakewood resident for most of his life, before moving to Manchester last year. Dennis was the owner operator of D. Letts Inc. excavation service. He was a longtime Forest Fire Service employee, and worked as a fire fighter and district fire warden to his mandatory retirement age of 70. Dennis was also a member of the Lakewood Rescue Fire Company No. 2 for more than 45 years. Always fond of the outdoors, he enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and fishing.
Son of late Elizabeth and Jonas Letts, Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Haybach Letts; a son, Stephen J. Letts and his wife Kimberly; a daughter, Denise B. Gabliks; a son-in-law, Maris Gabliks; 2 sisters Diane LoBello and her husband Vincent, and Sharon Meyers; a sister-in-law, Judy Marks; five grandchildren, Tyler DiStefano and his fiance Rachel Boll, Austin Letts, Marjorie Letts, Marisa Gabliks, and Alexander Gabliks, 2 great-grandchildren, Holly and Dennis DiStefano; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ. A fireman's service will be offered at 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be Monday, March 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ.

I was saddened to hear about Denny's passing. I've had the pleasure of knowing him for more than 30 years and I know he was a hard worker and put his heart and soul into everything he did. It didn't matter if it was fighting wildland fires for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, on a job he was working for his company, or spending time on horseback or with his dog. Always passionate and always willing to lend a hand. We will keep Dennis, and his family, in our thoughts and prayers. Rest In Peace
