Dominick R. Cardone, 75, of Hazlet, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at home. Born in Queens, he resided in Astoria before moving to Hazlet at the age of nineteen. He worked as an auto mechanic with R&S Strauss, Parlin. Dominick was a drummer, an upholsterer, a craftsman and loved gardening. He served in the National Guard from 1960-1968.

Dominick was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Mary DiMaura Cardone. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Phyllis Wenzel Cardone; his loving children, Dominick J. Cardone of Hazlet, Marie Todash and husband, Trevor of Ft. Wayne, IN, Michele Shpak and husband, Stephen of Jackson, and Vincent Cardone of Howell; siblings, Joseph Cardone and wife, Deborah of Largo, FL, Diane Garafola and husband, Anthony, Louisa Cardone, Marta Cardone, all of Tampa, FL, and Richard Cardone and wife, Linda of Largo, FL; and four cherished grandchildren, Kyle and Aidan Todash and Jessica and Jamie Shpak. Dominick will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, and from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 at the funeral home, with a 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Keyport. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
