Douglas Hamann Obituary
AGE: 70 • Neptune
Douglas Henry Hamann, of Neptune, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was 70 years old. Douglas was an artisan who crafted who owned his own stained glass business crafted fine stained glass windows. He was an avid bee keeper as well as craftsman and builder of fine houses. Douglas was a lifelong resident of the Jersey shore. He is predeceased by his son, Jon Hamann. Douglas is survived by his 3 sons, Douglas H. Hamann Jr. of Jackson, Stephen Hamann of Burlington VT and Edward Hamann of Jackson; his 9 grandchildren, Jon, Kristin, Douglas, Justin, Brian, Abigail, Timothy, Sophia and Luke; and his brother, Robert and three sisters, Carol, Jean and Nancy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Monday, July 21 at the Reilly-Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar. Commital will be held privately.

My Dear Doug..... I just came across this and am so saddened. We go back almost 55 years....you were my first love before you went off to Syracuse University. Eventually we went our separate ways. You were so much fun and although we only met up one other time over the years, I thought about whenever I saw watched the sailboats off the Jersey coast. You never failed to come over to take me out after delivering prams to boatyards down the shore. I am so sorry you left this world without my getting a chance to say good bye...... May you be at peace now and someday we will see each other again. Evelyn

Dear Douglas, We met this year and immediately became friends. You were new to our bus company and I was your first attendant on the bus. Everyday you said it was a new adventure and it was indeed. The children on our bus loved you and so did their parents. You kept me laughing. Just remember if there are any cones up in heaven please go around them. Rest in peace Doug. I will smile when I think of you and all of our talks about life's ups and downs. We would laugh at times and agree to disagree at other times, but it was always a pleasure. When I remember Deer Run Nursery I will always think of you and Janet and the beautiful combination of people and plants. I am so happy I was able to spend so many years there in the presence of such good company. Again Doug, rest in peace and I am so sorry for your family's loss.

I had hoped to make it to his memorial service. Unfortunately my work schedule did not allow for it. I had the pleasure of training Doug to drive a school bus as well as working with him these past several months. He will surely be missed at the bus yard.
