DUDLEY LEE HAWLEY
AGE: 91 MIDDLETOWN
Dudley Lee Hawley, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 7, succumbing to complications from open heart surgery. Born in Delawanna, NJ, Dudley served in the Navy during World War II stationed in Brazil, where he met his wife to be. After the war he relocated to Monmouth County and lived in Middletown for 55 years. A professional engineer, Dudley spent much of his early career with Bendix in Eatontown, working among other things in the development of the earliest transistors. He later spent 21 years with the State of New Jersey as Senior Examiner with the Bureau of Boiler and Pressure Vessel inspection. An aspiring musician his entire life, he was a student of the piano, guitar, accordion and most particularly the organ, of which he acquired three full scale console models over his lifetime.
Dudley was predeceased by his wife Airtes, daughter Suzette and son Anthony. He is survived by his daughter Patricia, an extended family both here and in Brazil, and a small legion of dear friends who will miss him immensely. Farewell dear Dudley, We'll see you in our dreams.
Visiting will be Friday, September 11, 2009 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Saturday at 9:00 AM at St. James RC Church, Broad St., Red Bank. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
