Edna May Matthews

AGE: 89 • Forked River

Edna May Matthews (nee Gourley), age 89 of Forked River passed away on Thursday June 30, 2011 at Van Dyke Hospice Toms River. Mrs. Matthews was born in Jersey City and was formerly of Jersey City and Bayonne, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1997 and Forked River in 2008. She retired in 1991 from The College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where she was the Bursar. Edna loved going to bingo.

Mrs. Matthews is predeceased by her husband John Matthews in 1964. She is survived by her son John and his wife Vickie Matthews, 8 grandchildren John Jr., Shannon, Jim, Jennifer, Joshua, Kathleen, David, and Patricia. She is also survived by 6 Great Grandchildren and her sister Helen Casselman.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday July 5, 2011 from 7 until time of service at 8:30pm at the Riggs Funeral Home 130 N. Rt. 9 Forked River. Interment will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am at The Bay View Cemetery 321 Garfield Ave. Jersey City. In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to American Diabetes Assoc. Southern Regional Chapter, 1060 North Kings Highway, Suite 309, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 in Mrs. Matthews' memory.
