Edward Powers Obituary
AGE: 73 • Colonia
Edward F. Powers passed away on Saturday, December28, 2013 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was 73 years old. Born in Elizabeth, he resided there before moving to the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township 49 years ago.
Mr. Powers received a bachelors degree from Seton Hall University and was employed as a credit account manager for 42 years before retiring from Linde Company in Murray Hill in 2008. He was a United States Army veteran, a communicant of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Colonia and an avid golfer.
Mr. Powers was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Jastrzembski Powers, in 2007.
Surviving are a son, Wayne E. Powers and his wife, Valerie, of Keyport; a daughter, Tracey Powers-DiCapua, of Philadelphia, PA; an aunt, Emily Engwall, of Clark; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel St., Avenel, NJ 07001. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, Colonia. Entombment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
