Eugene Cantor Obituary
Fair Haven
Dr. Cantor died Saturday after a brave fight with Cancer at his home in Fair Haven, NJ. Dr. Cantor was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and attended Syracuse University. After graduating from Syracuse University Dr. Cantor earned his medical degree in 1955 from New York Medical College and completed an internship at the University of Chicago in 1956. Before continuing with his residency Dr. Cantor served as a Lieutenant in the medical corp. as the ship's doctor for the flagship of the Sixth fleet in the United States Navy. After his service in the Navy, Dr. Cantor completed his training and started practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Red Bank, NJ. Over the course of his thirty-seven year career Dr. Cantor delivered thousands of children and even the grandchildren of some of his patients. After retiring in 1997 Dr. Cantor continued to serve the community while volunteering at Our Lady of Providence Clinic in Neptune, NJ and the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank, NJ.
He enjoyed travelling, playing bridge, boating, playing golf, and collecting and repairing clocks. Dr. Cantor was a long time member of Congregation B'nai Israel in Rumson, NJ and an enthusiastic member of the B'nai Israel Congregation Choir and enjoyed many years of membership at Monmouth Beach Club with his family. He is predeceased by a son Stephen and survived by his wife Maria, sister Suzanne Adams, children Claudia Francello, Jeff Cantor his wife Sharon, Pam Cantor, Karen Arnold her husband Dan, Adam Cantor, Rebecca Cantor-Chaplin, Dr. Michael Cantor his wife Sarah, ten grandchildren and his spoiled dogs Archie and Joey. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday at Congregation B'Nai Israel, Rumson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank, NJ. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean Twp. is in charge of arrangements.

So sorry to hear of his passing. He was the best delivered two of my childern. And saved my life another time with an ectopic pregancy, he spent the night sleeping in the Dr.s lounge to make sure I was ok. He was a wonderful person and a great Dr.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr.Cantor's passing. I loved working with him at the Providence Medical Clinic. He was an empathetic & caring doctor with a great sence of humor. My condolences to his family.

I was very saddened to hear of dr.cantors death. I have such fond memories of him. He delivered four of my children. Sherry, Darren and the twins Christopher and Michael. He will never be forgotten,& remembered as a warm and wonderful person.

I was very saddened to hear this news. My deepest sympathy to Dr. Cantor's family. I have very fond memories of being his patient since I was 19 years old. Almost 30 years ago he delivered my son Michael. I remembered him telling me how wonderful the name was as he spoke so highly of his own son Michael. I am so sorry. I will keep all of you in my prayers. He truly touched my life. Sincerely, Linda Minnella-the girl who danced through each pregnancy with all of my 4 boys. When Eugene came to work with Drs Massell and Marcellus, I was the RN in the offices(Red Bank and Hazlet) and loved working with him! What a wonderful young,handsome, man and MD.

Dr. Cantor delivered me on September 10, 1979. 90 minutes earlier, he delivered a baby girl who would eventually become my wife. We alerted him to this a few years ago and he was thrilled to have been a part of our story. Thank you Dr. Cantor for everything you did for our country and our community. Rest in Peace

Dr. Cantor delivered my beautiful and healthy son and daughter in 1975 and 1978 at Riverview Hospital. He remained my dedicated, sincere and compassionate doctor until his retirement. My deepest condolences to his family on the loss of a Very Special Man.

Dr Cantor was an amazing physician. He delivered me 37 years ago on 3-27-1976. A lot of my female family members went to him as a patient. He will be sadly missed. Rest in Peace Dr Cantor!!

Dr. Cantor delivered me 47 years ago early Sunday morning and my family though very highly of him. He detected an eye problem at birth and I am forever grateful for that. Our condolences go out to his family.

Dr. Cantor was my first gynocologist when I was a teenager and treated my mom for many years until he retired. He was a great guy and a good friend to my mother. I know he will be greatly missed.

Dr. Cantor delivered both my beautiful daughters, one in 1981 & the other in 1985. He was my doctor for many years. The most wonderful quality he had was that he was so soft spoken and calm. He always had a smile and made me always feel so comfortable. May he rest in peace and may his family take joy in all the memories they shared.

Dr. Cantor delivered me on Feb. 27, 1962. He asked my Mother, Gert Shaw, what she was going to name me because he said he was going to name his first son the same name. Looks like he did that. My Mom has always spoken very highly of Dr Cantor. Our condolences to the family. R.I.P. Dr Cantor. Thanks for bringing me into the world and treating my Mom so well!

Dr. Cantor was not my own OB doctoMy friend and I had babies within days of each other and Dr. Cantor was her physician. He would go and visit her and met me through her. After She was discharged from the hospital, he saw me and would come and visit me until the day I went home! He was such a kind man. Those babies that we had Arnel May he rest in peace and God bless his family. 32 years old! And both of us are grandparents now!

Dr. Cantor delivered all three of my children. HE allowed my husband in the delivery room even though they were not allowed. He sent me to Lamaze classes at Flower of Fifth Avenue hospital in NYC. My oldest is turning 49. When my daughter needed to go to a gyn she went to him. His compassion, love for his patients, kindness and forward thinking made him leader in his time. I will always remember him. Hope that your hearts will heal as you remember all the wonderful memories of him.
