FREDERICK JACOB AXT, JR.
AGE: 81 RUMSON
Frederick Jacob Axt, Jr., 81, passed away Friday, Oct. 31 his home in Rumson. He was born in Newark, graduated from Barringer HighSchool, then served in the U.S. Army during WWII aboard the battleship Missouri. He then graduated from the University of Miami where he played varsity tennis. He worked for Sharon Steel from 1950 to 1970, He then founded and managed Todd Timber Inc., from 1970 to 1990. He was an avid tennis fan and player, enjoyed the beach and loved his family and friends.
He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather by his daughters, Chris Hanson, Kyle Bloom and her husband, Edward; son, Todd Axt and grandchildren, Adam Hanson, Taylor and Bailey Bloom and Alexandra and Kendall Axt.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, with words of remembrance being offered at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Freedom Alliance Fund, which gives college scholarships to children of soldiers killed in action at www.freedomalliance.org.

We are truly sorry for your loss. Fred was such a nice man. We were his neighbors down toward the end of the road. We had some lovely conversations and every time I walked by, I'd say "Hi Fred. How are you doing?" and He'd say"Not bad for an old guy!" and I'd say, "Oh stop!" and we'd smile and wave! My husband also enjoyed his interactions. He will be missed. Our thoughts are with you. Our deepest sympathy on the passing of your wonderful father Fred.He was a very kind and good man. I will remember him with a smile and cherish those memories forever.
