Gary Hartdorn Obituary

Gary Hartdorn

AGE: 52 • Brick

Gary Hartdorn, 52, of Brick and Ocean City, NJ and his bride and soul mate Missy Healey, tragically left us on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, after a motorcycle accident and are now together in heaven. Gary was born in Point Pleasant and lived the Jersey Shore life at its fullest and finest, touching all aspects of life that is made available to us. His touch to his family and friends were impacting and everlasting. His life career was in the medical technology field. His life vocations included water sports and boating, ultra-light flying, stock car racing, motorcycles, travel, and good times with his family and friends. Gary was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend, with an out-reach of genuine kindness, compassion, and charity. Thank you for you "Gary". We love you and take care, till we meet again.

He is predeceased by his brother, Glen (2002). Living relatives are parents, George and Jean Hartdorn (Point Pleasant Boro); aunt, Evelyn Matouk (Point Pleasant Beach); sister-in-law, Ruta Sleptys (Brick); brothers, David Hartdorn and wife, Laura (Brick) and Trace Hartdorn and wife, Pauline (Toms River); nephews, David, Quinn and Joe; and nieces, Carly and Heather.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Gary and Missy at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May, where friends will be received from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. Interment will be private for the family and will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Gary's memory to the Healey Educational Foundation Gleneayre Farm, 573 Eayrestown Road, Lumberton, NJ 08048 where an annual scholarship has been established. The world is a sadder place to live without Gary here with us. The selfishness in me feels anger and rage that he left so suddenly. Then when I think of all the memories of love, laughter and friendship that he has left me. I am grateful for those priceless gifts. Thank You Gary for the privilege of sharing a small part of your life with me. You are loved and missed.

I never met either Gary or Missy; however I was on 195 east returning home from a visit with family that evening. Traffic was diverted to leave 195 East via exit 16. I knew it must have been something horrible and it was. My deepest sympathy to the families of these two very young people who sound as though they were both wonderful. God bless...
