Gene F. Tutzauer

AGE: 85 • Brick

Gene F. Tutzauer, age 85, of Brick, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Passaic, NJ, he lived in Rutherford prior to moving to Brick in 1956. Gene was a graduate of Rutherford High School where he was a member of both the Basketball and Football teams. He was employed in the Legal Department at NJ Bell Telephone, Newark for 32 year until retiring. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Bougainville. He was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon as well as a member of the Men's Club. Gene was a member of the Brick Jaycee's and the Planning Board for Brick. He was a Boy Scout Leader and a coach for Brick Little League, Brick Recreational Hockey and Brick Biddy Basketball. He was an inventor, writer and painter and enjoyed playing golf. He was a Brick High School football fan and was an avid supporter of all his family's athletic endeavors. Gene and his wife, Barbara, were enthusiastic Square Dancers for over 35 years, traveling across the country to various meets.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Barbara Miller Tutzauer; four sons and three daughters in law, Wayne and Jeanette Tutzauer of Denver, CO, Gary and Karyn Tutzauer of Brick, Gene and MaryEllen Tutzauer of Toms River and Chris Tutzauer of Princeton; two brothers, William Tower of CA and Gerard Tutzauer of Butler, NJ; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Thursday from 3-7pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A memorial service will be held Friday, 11AM at Brick Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Brick Presbyterian Building Expansion Fund, 111 Drum Point Rd., Brick, NJ 08723 would be greatly appreciated.
