George George Obituary
AGE: 85 • Brick
George George, 85, of Brick, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at his home. He was born and raised in Newark and lived in Maplewood and Union before moving to Brick 25 years ago. He was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as president of Shop-Rite Supermarkets in Freehold for many years. He was also the owner and operator of Prime Time Video in Point Pleasant. He was a parishioner of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River. He was a member of American Legion Post #35 of Union and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Cathryn (Valliotis) George, in 1993. He is survived by his loving sons, William and his wife, Lorraine of Brick, and George Jr. "Jordy" and his wife, Lori of Rockaway; two sisters, Evelyn McCollough and Carol Pappas; four grandchildren, Nicole and her husband Steve, Craig, Erika and Kaitlyn; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Nicholas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, is in charge of arrangements.
