Gino Salvatore DeLuca

AGE: 79 • Raritan

Gino Salvatore DeLuca, 79, passed away peacefully, Monday. June 2, 2014 at McCarrick Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Somerville to the late Louis and Nancy DeLuca, he was a life-long resident of Raritan. Gino was a maintenance foreman for the Somerset County Park Commission for 29 years before retiring in 1992. He was also the former owner/operator of Gino's Bar and Grill in Raritan and a self-employed mason by trade. Gino was a very active member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Raritan and a committee member for its annual Festa. He was also a member of the Raritan Borough Planning Board and served on the committee for the John Basilone Parade and was very instrumental in securing the creation of the John Basilone Postage Stamp. In addition, Gino was a member of the Tavern Owners Association and enjoyed golfing, horse racing, walking, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports. He will be remembered for cruising through Raritan and spending time with his friends there. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by a brother, Mario and four sisters, Mary, Evelyn, Helen and Louise. Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Filiano DeLuca, his loving children, Georgann DeLuca of Bridgewater, Gino A. DeLuca of Raritan, Anthony DeLuca and wife Renee of Raritan, Nancy Brady and husband Kevin of Green Brook and Donna Fillmore and husband Tom of Somerset, his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Gina, Danielle, Christopher, Jessica, McKayla, Shannon and Charli, his caring brother, Dominick DeLuca and wife Florence and his caring sister, JoAnn Williams and husband Phil.

Funeral services will begin 9:15 am, Friday from the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, followed by a 10:00 am funeral mass at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Raritan, Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum, Bridgewater. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 45 Anderson St., Raritan, NJ 08869 or the John Basilone Parade Committee , 22 First Ave., Raritan, NJ 08869.
