Gregory Barow Obituary

Gregory Barow, 39, of Lavallette, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 of natural causes. He was pursuing his passion of snowboarding in Park City and was surrounded by his friends at the time of his death. Gregory was born November 30, 1972 and filled his life with the activities and people he loved. He grew up in Lavallette and spent much of his childhood sailing. He graduated from Point Pleasant High School and Salisbury State University. Greg maintained an active lifestyle and loved traveling, skiing, and watersports. Although Greg spent most of his life in the northeast, he had recently moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where he continued to remain active in the sailing community. He shared his life and home with his beloved fiancée, Elisa Lynskey, and cherished pets.
He is survived by his brother, Phillip Barow, and many loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sue and Bruce LaMura; father, Dr. Sigmund Barow; and mother, Aileen Barow.
He will forever be missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his bright smile and generosity. In lieu of flowers, a sailing scholarship will be established in Greg's name. For further information, please contact Elisa Lynskey at 727-553-7100.
A mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 18 at St. Catherine of Siena in Seaside Park, NJ. A reception and celebration of his life will follow at the Toms River Yacht Club.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Greg, and send our most sincere condolences to his family, fiance, and friends. We live in the home Greg lovingly restored, and will miss his yearly visits. He loved to stop by when he was in the area to see how we were doing, and visit the home he put so much of his heart and soul into. We will always treasure what he did to make our home a beautiful place and he will be greatly missed. Bettina Thompson and family

Elisa,
Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you.
It was wonderful to see you and Greg together and the special moments we had during the IFDS Worlds Paralympic Trials in Punta Gorda, FL. just a few weeks ago. Greg was such a tremendous help prior to and during the Paralympic Trials, We will forever cherish these moments and most of all for having the privilege of knowing Greg since he was a youngster. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I've known Greg since he was little. He was my neighbor, someone I watched over, but as we got older, a friend. Though it has been a few years since I saw him, when his mom was sick, it aches my heart immensely to hear of his passing. I am praying for you and his family in this time of sorrow. I am sure he is in his moms arms in heaven looking down on you all. God Bless!
