Herman W. Cooper

AGE: 80 • Bayville

Herman "Bud" Cooper, 80 of Bayville died on January 21, 2013. Born on November 25, 1932 in Paterson, he moved to Bayville in 1960. Bud graduated from Bergen Junior College, then Fairleigh Dickinson University and achieved his Masters Degree at Union College in Schenectady New York. Mr. Cooper taught in Saddlebrook for two years before going to Central Regional High School in Bayville, where he taught Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Education and served as chairman of the Science Department for thirty three years. During the summer, Bud worked at Island Beach State Park as Chief Naturalist. Mr. Cooper proudly served his country as First Lieutenant of the Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a member of the Marine Corp League of Lacey Township, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Bermuda Biology Association, also Communicant of St. Barnabas Church and the Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th Degree).

Bud is predeceased by his beloved first wife Rosella Long Cooper. Surviving are his loving wife Barbara (Whitaker) Cooper; his three children, Kevin Cooper, Kathleen Clark and Karen Bandics; five grandchildren, Justin and Larina Cooper, Robert and Jennifer Clark and Kyle Bandics; two great grandchildren Arianna and Ethan; six step-daughters, Donna Weidele, Lisa Hynes, Valerie Canova, Lynn Douget, Janine Russell and Deborah Rodriguez; fourteen step-grandchildren, Rob, Matt, Chris, Christine, Ryann, Shannon, Deanna, Jordyn, Adrian, Jack, Faith, Nadia, Tristan and Mia; and one step-great granddaughter DeLaney.

Visiting hours will be today, Jan. 23rd from 6-9pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Thursday, 8:30am at the funeral home, before celebrating a 9:30am Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church, Bayville. Burial will follow to Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bud's memory to Van Dyke Hospice, 99 Route 37 West, Toms River NJ 08755, would be appreciated.
