JACOB STECKEL
AGE: 88 BRICK
Jacob Steckel, 88, of Brick, passed away Monday, Oct. 27. Jack was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the 7th Armored Division. He graduated from Memorial High School in West New York and moved to Brick in 1958. After retiring he enjoyed many enjoyable hours with his friends in the Monmouth County Parks walking group, most especially Mitch and Phil. Jack loved his sports teams and was an avid Yankee and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel "Dolly". He is survived by two daughters, Carol Johnson and Barbara Petriello, a son-in-law, Michael Petriello; four grandchildren, Michael and Patrick Petriello, Daniel Lowder and Kathleen Grice; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Caitlin Grice. The family wishes to express heartlfelt thanks to the staff at Shorrock Gardens Nursing Home for their compassion and kindness.
Funeral services will be private; however there will be a remembrance of his life from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter Barbara Petriello. All friends are welcome to attend. It was Jack's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jersey Shore Animal Center, Brick. Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Carol, I read of your father passing and wish to express my condolences. Reading the obit brought me back to Birchwood Park and the people I met as a paper boy.
