Constance Sue "Connie" Steckel

1951 - 2026

Constance "Connie" Sue Steckel, 74 of Seymour passed away March 6, 2026 at Schneck Medical Center. She was born August 8, 1951 in Seymour to Robert and Leona Helwig Buhner. She lived in Seymour most of her life, graduating from Seymour High School. She received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University and her Masters Degree in Education from Indiana University and spent the next 49 years teaching children mostly in the Crothersville Schools, while other years were spent teaching in Florida.

On August 7, 1995, She married David Earl Steckel at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member for many years. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader but her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was anxiously awaiting the two great-grandchildren on the way.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Marlene Ann and Kenneth 'Jack" Wright.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Dave, her children, Becca and Bradley Bain, David Steckel, Michael and Tracy Tracy and Brent and Malisa Steckel, as well as 13 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery on Vehslage Road in Seymour. Arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Service of Seymour.
