James Pryor Obituary
AGE: 83 • Brielle
Dr. James G. Pryor 83 of Brielle, passed away on Monday October 10, 2016 after a long illness. Dr. Pryor was born and raised in Bayonne. He graduated from Regis High School in Manhattan, St. Peter's College in Jersey City, and Georgetown Medical School.
Dr. Pryor completed his internship at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark, and did his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pryor practiced medicine in Point Pleasant and Brick for over 40 years.
Dr. Pryor was the President of the Board at New Horizons in Autism for 20 years, he was a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Manasquan River Golf Club.
Dr. Pryor is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen, his son James and his wife Barbara of Denver, Colorado, his daughters Kathleen Simmonds and her husband Bobby of Brick , and Allison Pryor of New Egypt, his brother Gerard Pryor and his sister Irene Andrews, and his four grandchildren, James R., Madalyn and Michael Pryor and Kayla Sanford. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday October 29, 2016 at 11 am at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Avenue, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to New Horizons in Autism, 906 Route 33 Freehold, NJ 07728 or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. Jim and Helen where our neighbors for over 30 years. Jim was a warm and gentle soul who I remember watching the wild life and the grand trees which surrounded his home. He was our Doctor and as a family man he and his lovely wife Helen where an inspiration when watching them tend to their children's needs. Both our families are grown and have move on but Jim, Helen, Theresa and I remained through Snow Storms, Hurricanes and worked together. Hew will be missed but never forgotten!
