JAY G. FREIDAY JR.
AGE: 54 LONG BRANCH
Jay G. Freiday Jr., 54, of Long Branch, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at home. Born in Orange, he lived in Pompano Beach, Fla. before moving to Long Branch in 1980. He was a commission bill collector for Van Der Moolen Specialists in New York City. He worked on Wall Street for 30 years. He was a member and past president of the Holy Name Society of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch and served as treasurer for the Monmouth County Federation of Holy Names and scoutmaster for Troop #54, Long Branch. He was a graduate of the Florida Air Force Academy (ROTC). Jay was ordained a permanent deacon by Bishop John M. Smith on May 8, 2004, at St. Mary's Cathedral, Trenton, and was assigned to Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, both in Long Branch before being assigned to the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven in 2004.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Elizabeth Lowenthal Freiday; two sons, William Francis Clark and Jay G. Freiday III, both of Long Branch; niece, Martine Frances Lowenthal of Shrewsbury; his uncle, A. Vincent Lawrence of Tequesta, Fla.; four sisters, Marie Celeste Peck of Sea Bright, Denise and her husband John Papandrea of Manasquan, Nancie and her husband Gary Weary of Wanamassa, Ocean Township, and Marie Andre Mindnich of Short Hills; two grandsons, Alex Freiday and Sean Clark; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Church of the Nativity, 108 Ridge Road, Fair Haven, followed by a Funeral Mass at 6 p.m. Burial service will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Church of the Nativity, 108 Ridge Road, Fair Haven, NJ 07704. Arrangements are by the Fiore Funeral Home, West Long Branch. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected] and will be received by the family.

I was so saddened to read of Jay's passing in the Holy Trinity bulletin. I remember him when I used to attend Holy Trinity. I would often see him on the boardwalk. May God grant you comfort at this time of loss.
