AGE: 71 • Toms River
Jean McCarthy, 71, of Toms River died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on December 17, 2011. Born in Newark, she lived many years in Belleville. She also lived in Kenilworth before moving to Toms River 21 years ago. Mrs. McCarthy was employed as Secretary for 18 years with Friendly Village of Riverwood in Toms River, NJ. Jean was a very special person always giving of herself. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is predeceased by her three children, Joseph, Thomas and Peggy Abramson, and also her sister, Jeanette Gray and brothers Earl and Robert Sprague. Surviving are her husband Edward McCarthy, married 26 years; four children, David Abramson, Carol Ann Abramson, Robert Abramson and his wife Stephanie, and Anthony Abramson and his wife Arlene; three step-children, Colleen Fiorillo, Maureen McCarthy and Kelly Caglione and her husband Chris; five siblings, Joan Loprete, William Sprague, Barbara Steinlight, Richard Sprague and Annamarie Ricciardelli. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, Dec. 29th, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721. Funeral Services will be offered on Friday at 10am in the funeral home. Please arrive by 9:30am. Entombment will follow to Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory to: St. Jude Children's Hospital { stjude.org } would be appreciated.

To the McCarthy Family:
I would like to make brief statement about your mother Jean: She was a very good women. I always wave her at she worked at office for the community where she live. I am so shocked she is gone. She always wave my son and speaking to my son JR which he is age of 6. She smiled at him. Sincerely, Rosemarie Mauser
