Jim Umstead

AGE: 47 • Toms River

Jim Umstead, 47, of Toms River passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2011. He was born James Wesley Umstead, Jr. on May 16, 1964 in Paterson, NJ and raised in Pequannock. Jim was a promoter of positivity; he loved to see people happy and always smiling. He fought a long and courageous battle to overcome the pain and injuries sustained in an automobile accident, succumbing to them Friday morning. Mr. Umstead had a long career as a regional sales manager for various companies in New Jersey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Meredith Umstead. Jim is also survived by his two children, Kaitlyn and James Umstead; parents, Betty and Jim Umstead; sister Gina and her husband, Al, and their two children, Sierra and Allyson; and brother, Greg and his wife, Wendy, and their three children, Brianna, Jake, and Gregory. He had an extraordinary effect on people and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Visiting for Jim will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2011 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2011 at 11 AM at the funeral home, please arrive at 10:30 AM. Entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Jim's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. This was Jim's favorite charity, to which he donated to for over 20 years. www.silvertonmemorial.com

He was a kind and wonderful person with a great personality and sense of humor. My sincere condolences and sympathies go out to you and the family on your loss.
