JOAN Z. FISHER
AGE: 75 LONG BRANCH
Joan Z. Fisher, 75, a lifelong resident of Long Branch, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. She was a crossing guard for the City of Long Branch for the past 19 years and a communicant of Christ the King Parish at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Mary Gaynor Ziegler; her sisters, Lillian Andolino and Lorraine Fiore; and her grandsons, Sean Fisher and Michael Topham. Surviving are her husband, John L. Fisher; children, Mary Ellen and her husband Kevin Buck, Jean Fisher and Sherry and her husband Steve Topham, all of Long Branch, and John and his wife Amy Fisher of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 p.m. and attend services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected] and will be received by the family.

I very much enjoyed speaking with Joan everyday while waiting to pick up our son Trevor from Gregory School.It was with great sadness that I had learned of her passing. She was a truly wonderful, kind and very funny person whose presence will be deeply missed.Our prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Many memories of this fine woman in my heart. Any trip north was never complete if I did not get to see her at her crossing guard site...even if the visit w/her was short...it was always well worth it to my heart and my being... she was family and family that I loved.
