John Patrick Giblin, 78, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at home. He was born in Teaneck, NJ, and resided in Newark, NJ, before settling in Jackson Twp., NJ, 47 years ago.

John was the chief operating engineer for the Sterns Department Store, Toms River, NJ, for 29 years prior to his retirement in 2001. He also worked for the Rhinegold Brewery from 1959-1972.

He was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Jackson Twp., NJ. John was a member of Local 68 Operating Engineers, West Caldwell, NJ, and a member of the Order of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore.

John was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Mary Giblin. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne (nee Hanily) Giblin of Jackson Twp., NJ; his sons, Patrick Giblin and his wife, Brigitte of Jackson, Twp., NJ, John Giblin and his wife, Karen of Neptune Twp., NJ, and Kevin Giblin and his wife, Melanie of Wall Twp., NJ; his daughter, Jennifer Giblin Cirz and her husband, Tony of Beachwood, NJ; his sister, Kathleen Sullivan and her husband, Patrick of Tappan, NY; and by his 8 grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Joseph, Ty and Jake Giblin, and Nick, Kyle and Meganne Cirz.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Gathering from 4-8 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. His Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Friday, September 15, 2017, at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. Please gather at 9:15 AM at the church.
