JOHN THOMAS LAMBERTSEN, SR.
AGE: 93 TOMS RIVER
John Thomas Lambertsen, Sr., 93, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 16, with his son and daughter at his side. Jack was born in Fanwood, New Jersey on November 1, 1917. He attended St. Bernards School there and later was a member of the first eighth grade graduating class of St. Joseph's School, North Plainfield, New Jersey. After graduating in 1938 from North Plainfield High School, he worked as a draftsman in New York City and later for the Elizabethtown Gas Company before enlisting in the U.S Navy in 1941. He attained the rank of Aircraft Mechanic Second Class for Squadron VS 55 where he was later assigned as Plane Captain and promoted to Tail Gunner Second Class when he obtained his wings. He served in the Pacific in the Philippines, New Hebrides and New Zealand. He returned to the Elizabethtown Gas Company after his discharge in 1945 and worked his way from meter reader to an upper management position. He retired in 1978, and moved to Holiday City Carefree, Toms River, New Jersey with his wife, Stasia. He became involved in many of the activities there and served as President of the Carefree Men's Golf League for several years. He and his wife, enjoyed many years of golfing, fishing, and vacationing in Florida in the winters. They traveled extensively during many trips and family cruises and particularly enjoyed a trip to Costa Rica for the wedding of one of their grandsons. Jack was a talented story teller and over the years wrote many tales of family adventures and Christmases.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Stasia, his daughter, Judith and his son-in law, Raymond Roble. He is survived by his daughters Marguerite Buppert and husband, Michael, Midway, Georgia and Patricia Lamken, Chadwick Beach, N.J, his son, Jack, Jr. and wife, Lynn, Scotch Plains, N.J. his grandsons William Sayre, Marina Del Rey, CA, Bryan Sayre and wife, Franny, Willow Creek, CA, Robert McDonald and wife, Marrouwa, Weehawken, N. J., and Damian McDonald, Eugene, OR and his great-grandchildren William, Utopia, Kali and Drake. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
