John McGowan

AGE: 64 • Red Bank

John McGowan, age 64, of Red Bank a devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012. He is survived by his wife Lynn, son John, daughter Rori, son-in-law Jim and grandson James. He was also a loving son, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and great uncle. John served in the Marines from 1966-1970 where he earned multiple medals and citations for bravery and combat during the Vietnam War. John was a dedicated and committed member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 12 where he served on the executive board. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He often would visit Veterans Hospitals to comfort other Veterans with major illnesses and disabilities from the wars in which they served. John Will always remain in the hearts of his family and friends as a loyal and devoted Husband, wonderful Father, loving Grandfather and a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and Marine Corps.

The family will receive their friends 2-4 & 7-9 Wednesday at the John P. Condon Funeral Home in Leonardo. Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Thursday at St. James Church, Broad Street, Red Bank. Cremation services will be private. The Family suggests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12, P.O. Box 276 Allenhurst NJ 07711.
