John "Jack" J. Morrissey

AGE: 79 • Manchester

John "Jack" J Morrissey 79 of Manchester died at home on Friday September 12, 2014. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he resided in Staten Island for many years before moving to Manchester in 2009. He graduated from Providence College in 1957 and was commissioned into the Army as a regular officer. He served in the 173rd Airborne Division during Vietnam, as the first Probost Marshall in Viet Nam. He retired in 1977 as the Commander of the Armed Forces Police Detachment of New York City. He then worked for People's Express Airline as the Director of Security as well as various other security consulting services. He was a communicant of St John's Church, Lakehurst. He is predeceased by his son Glenn in 2012. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Claudette Norris Morrissey, 2 sons, John Joseph III of Staten Island and Thomas of Hackensack, daughter, Cheryl Morrissey of Mahwah, a sister, Mary Lou Ries of Atlanta, and her husband, Al, and 6 grandchildren, Michael, Brian, & Christina Morrissey, Michaela, Ian & Andrew Heinz. Visitation is Tuesday 4-8 pm at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Wednesday 10 am at St John's Church, Lakehurst with interment to follow at the Brigadier Gen William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Morrisey. My prayers are with you all at this time. I feel very blessed to have known Jack. He was a very intelligent, happy and Classy Man.He always told some great stories. I'm sure he and Glen will meet at the gates of Heaven with open arms. I certainly miss Glenn and I will also remember his great Dad. May you rest in Peace Mr. Morrisey. God Bless.
