John Nehila

AGE: 90 • Perth Amboy

John Nehila, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, NJ. John was born in Perth Amboy, and was a lifelong resident. He was a parishioner of St Stephen's Church / Blessed John Paul II Parish in Perth Amboy. He worked as a mechanic for Shell Oil in Sewaren before retiring. John was a veteran who served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Regina Nehila in April 2014. He is survived by his son John Nehila Jr. and his wife Janine of Tenafly; daughters Jane Nehila and her husband Robert Maren of Long Valley; grandchildren Caitlin and Timothy Nehila; and her devoted caregivers Sheila and Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Zylka Funeral Home, 513 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21 beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 9:45am. Mass will follow at 10am at St. Stephen's Church in Perth Amboy, followed by burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Hopelawn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital at www.mskcc.org

Condolences to the family
John was a very good mechanic at Shell. I had the honor of being his helper several times back in the day and he was always patient and helpful with me and others. He will be missed.
