John J. "Jack" O'Beirne

John J. O'Beirne ,also known as "Jack", 79, of Middletown, NJ, died peacefully on August 19, 2016 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Nora O'Beirne and lived there until moving to Middletown 49 years ago. Jack graduated from St. John's Prep High School and St. Francis College, Brooklyn NY. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Jack was a successful sales professional in the oil business and longtime parishioner of St. Mary's parish in Middletown. He was a voracious reader and an enthusiastic solver of crossword puzzles. Jack was a storyteller extraordinaire and had an unbridled good humor. Jack was a strong believer in the mission of the ARC of Monmouth for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Jack was a loving and dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Margaret Gavigan O'Beirne, his daughters, Brenda Mergenthaler and Kathy Johnson, sons Jack and Matt O'Beirne, son-in-law Frank Mergenthaler, and daughter-in-law Janet O'Beirne; seven loving grandchildren, Laurena and Christopher Mergenthaler, William IV and Colin Johnson, Julianne, Kimberly, and Nicholas O'Beirne, and his sister Margaret O'Beirne. Jack was preceded in death by his son in law , William Johnson , III; and his brother, Joseph O'Beirne.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 5-8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Memorial Mass will be offered Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown.
