JOHN BENJAMIN SCHULTE JR.
FORMERLY OF RED BANK
John Benjamin Schulte Jr., loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, friends, and pastor on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, after a courageous battle from a tragic car accident. John was born April 6, 1953 in Orange, moving at an early age to Red Bank. He was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, where he was a member of the football team, as well as the track team. He received a football scholarship to Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Va.; he then transferred to Mount Saint Mary's College in Maryland, where he graduated in 1975. After college, John served as a sales account executive in the Capital Markets Division at Blyth Eastman Dillon in Portland, Ore. He subsequently transferred to Houston, where he joined Government Securities Corp. of Texas, where he was a Senior Vice President. From there, John started his own company named the Dover Group, Inc., a fixed income securities firm. He then co-founded a new company named Schulte & Johnson, which was a broker/dealer specializing in the purchase of SBA loan guarantees. From there, John went on to help small business owners to borrow capital by issuing SBA loans by co-founding Small Business Loan Source (SBLS), acting as President and Chief Operating Officer. John also received many awards in his career such as being named one of the 20 Most Influential People in the SBA industry in 2007, awarded the 2004 NAGGL "Outstanding Achievement Award" for government relations accomplishments and was voted to NAGGL Board of Directors in September 2008. John was a member of St. Peters, UMC, and an avid Boston Red Sox fan, a friend to all who knew him, and will be dearly missed by his family.
John is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Heidi Thomas Schulte; his parents, Barbara and John Schulte of Tequesta, Fla.; his son, John B. Schulte III of Austin, Texas; his daughter, Paige Schulte and her fiancé' Brandon Nelson of Richmond, Texas; a daughter, Hollis Schulte of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Ashley Jurak of College Station, Texas; and a son, Cole Schulte of Katy, Texas. I may not remember much from high school days given how long ago that was but what I do remember from that time was John's smile and how he could warm up a room just by walking into it. He was a real mensch!

I'm very sorry to hear that he's gone but I hope your wonderful memories of him will ease your pain over the coming months. I will keep him in my prayers!

To the Schulte family, I could not believe the news when my brother John called me. I remember John from RBC but most fondly from the PHouse, we had a great time. I will never forget Suzanne's kindness when my sister Christine died and I am sure you are receiving much support in return. You are all in my thoughts.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all. I was a classmate of John's at RBC. He was such a good guy and a devoted member of the class of 1971. In our senior year of high school, I was responsible for the RBC Student Council Mission Crusades/Social Welfare Committee. Periodically, we would run trips to an orphanage in New Jersey. Although John was very busy in high school and a RBC football player, I could always count on John to get on the bus to visit the orphange and make the children there smile! He was a caring, loving person. He would also help all of us Casys celebrate St. Patrick's Day in NYC in true green and gold spirit!!!! John was a team player and will be sadly missed. God bless the family and friends of John.

John was on my sales team at the time of his death. Every Monday morning at our sales meeting we played a silly game called "sevens"...he always made me laugh when we played this game and he always struck me as being such a sincere man with a genuninely caring heart. He was always positive and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed greatly! My prayers and condolences to his wife and children.

We're so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I was so saddened to get this message from my sister. I played football with John at both RBC and Randolph-Macon (Johnny recruited me to go there). He took care of me like a big brother my freshman year. I will never forget his constant smile through many tough times and for shaping me in the man I am today. God bless you Johnny in heaven and may god bless your family.
