John Steib Obituary

John Seton Steib

Pine Beach

Beloved husband, father, and supreme commander John Seton Steib reluctantly passed away at home suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012. He will be sadly and sorely missed by all that knew him. Born Nov. 15, 1941 in Newark to Joseph and Helen Steib, his early childhood was spent in Newark and later raised in Scranton, PA until graduating high school. After attending numerous colleges, he graduated from Walsh College in North Canton, Ohio where he met the love of his life, Mary Jane. After staking his claim and promising her diamonds and/or good cut glass, they married on June 18, 1966. He worked successfully in the various professions of banking, insurance, and piracy. He returned to New Jersey in 1970 and worked for First National Bank of Toms River, where he made lifelong friendships. He found his true calling and happiness when he founded his own company, Water Works Pool Service with his wife and children in 1976. He continued to make people laugh until his passing doing what he loved, interacting with the many people that passed through his doors and his life. He loved travelling the world with his wife and family and always shared stories of his travels with anyone that would listen. Those who will miss him and his crooked smile terribly are his wife of 46 years, Mary Jane; his daughter, Leslie; son, Christopher; daughter, Kathryn; son-in-law, Heath; his favorite...Tula, a large extended family, and his Water Works family of Melissa, Barry, Ryan, Anthony and Jody. One of a kind, he will be missed every day. ...punch and pie.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31 at St. Barnabas Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville. Cremation will be private. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.

To all the Steib Family... I am so very sad to hear of John's passing. I've been a customer of yours for many years.. would not think of going anywhere else.. Whenever I walked into your store I would always check the 'table' first. If John was there, I know I would be in for some laughs. Such a cool guy... My thoughts and prayers are with you all.. He will be missed.

I will miss you so much John. I will never forget the day I first talked to you and will never forget the day you nicknamed me Rupert. Even though I have only known you for about 2 years, you still became family to me. Also to be honest I would have never been the person I am to day if it was not for you and the rest of your family. Until we meet and John and no, "I'm not threatening you".
Love always,
Rupert

Hey Tink, it's Walt again. I took my bike to see you today, I knew you would appreciate that. I caught up with our counsin Jimmy Vernon, he loves you a lot. It was good to talk to him about you. The most impressive part, besides feeling your supreme presence there, was seeing your great kids. You and MJ really did well, they are excellent people. You shall live on forever through them. God Bless you.

Leave it to you guys to make me laugh, even when reading his obituary. Rest easy John - you left an imprint on my heart and always put a smile on my face. The pool store - will still be great - but it will never be the same. Love and prayers to the family - so sorry you left us Mr. W.A.- it was way too soon...and I am gonna miss the constant laughs you brought my way....and the way you always told it like it is - now - go bust some chops up there - find my dad - you 2 were made from the same mold.
Very respectfully,

Brian Calvert

I will miss you my friend, you put a smile on everybodies face, well everyone that had a sense of humor. The rest were just missing out on the fun. You left your mark on this world with those great kids who will carry on the fun and mayhem.

And though you've gone, you're always near
I know it's not the end.
Your memory will always live
within the man - my friend.

Dear Aunt and Cousins: We are so glad to have shared as much time with Uncle John as we did - what with being 2 states away. His stories and his sense of humor will never be surpassed. We remember him with joy in our hearts mixed with the sadness at the loss of this unique man. Please feel our hugs now until we can hug you in person on Friday.
