AGE: 89 • Avon
Joseph Apicelli, 89, of Avon, passed away Fri. Jan. 13, 2017 at Manor by the Sea, Ocean Grove. He was a owner and operator, with his wife, Olive Thomson Apicelli of the Thomson Agency Avon, NJ. and a lifetime resident of the Jersey Shore. Joseph was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
He was predeceased by his sisters Philomena, Rose and Rita. Surviving are his loving wife Olive Apicelli of Avon; daughters Mary Ann Apicelli of VA, Linda Hilderandt of Neptune City; son Joseph Apicelli Jr. of Wall ; three brothers Sam, Anthony, and Ralph Apicelli, sister Florence Voivoda; four grandchildren Christy Plott, Suzanne Plott, Brianne Apicelli, Kaitlyn Apicelli, and great granddaughter Zoey.
Visitation will be held Mon. Jan. 16, 2017 from 2-5pm at Francioni, Taylor & Lopez Funeral Home, 1200 10th Ave, Neptune. A 10:30am funeral mass will be held Tues. Jan. 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park, Entombment will follow at St Catharine's Cemetery , Sea Girt.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Avon-by-the-Sea First Aid, PO Box 3 Avon, NJ 07717, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or charity of your choice.

So sorry that I could not have ben there to pay my respects to my "Second Dad". The memories of looking through the window hoping for an invite in for spaghetti are still present....along with remembering his infectious laughter and the twinkle in his eye as he would call me "Phylzee". He remains alive in all my childhood memories. He will be missed by many I m sure, but he is definitely in a better place where we can all hope to meet up once again.

Joe was one of the best. My family rented and bought several homes in Avon with the help of Joe. He'll be missed.
