AGE: 73 • Manchester
Joseph P. Gyulay, 73, of Manchester, died Sunday June 21, 2015 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Middletown for 25 years before moving to Leisure Village West in Manchester in 1998. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves for 6 years, including active duty status during the Vietnam War, when he helped train troops prior to deployment. It was during his time in the Reserves that he met his life-long friend, Sal Rozzi. He was also an Eagle Scout. He earned his BA from Fairleigh Dickenson University and worked as an accountant for Trico Mortgage Co in Laurence Harbor before retiring. He was a family man, a dedicated husband, and lived for his grandchildren. He is survived by Roslyn, his wife of 47 years, and 2 sons, Michael of Wallingford, CT and Matthew and wife Joanna of Jackson NJ, and 5 grandchildren, Madeleine, Benjamin, Lily, Nolan, and Miles. A memorial gathering is this Saturday from 2 to 5 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to your favorite charity. So sorry for your loss. Joe would deliver supply's to my office in Brick. We always had a great conversation when he came in with his deliveries. He will surely be missed.
