AGE: 81 • Neptune
Joseph V. Irons, 81, of Neptune, NJ passed away on May 9, 2017.
Joseph was fondly known as Pappy & Joe to his friends and family. He was born on December 8, 1935.
Joe was best known for his impeccable work as a sheetrocker in the construction business. He was a lifelong member of the Monmouth Shore Points Motorcycle Club. Which he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife while vacationing in Daytona Beach and Lake George alongside his long time friends. He cherished every moment with everyone in his family.
He is survived by his wife and best friend for over 42 years, Catherine "Kate" Irons, and their daughters Cassie Irons and Cynthia Irons McDermott and her husband Patrick McDermott and his son Joey "Junior" Irons, his daughters Kathy Irons Ciaglia and her husband Mark Ciaglia, Michele Irons La Valle, Heather Irons Magenheimer and her husband Edward Magenheimer and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial at St. Luke's Church in Long Branch, NJ, for the immediate family only. Guardian Trade Services of South Amboy performed the cremation, please visit www.gts.nj.com In Joseph's honor please feel free to donate to the VFW Post 2226 of Oakhurst, NJ or to the ELKS 128 of Neptune-Wall NJ. A gathering will be arranged for all friends and family at the VFW Post 2226 on Sunday, June 11 from 4-8pm.

So sorry to just recently hear this sad news. I worked with Joe, on and off, for more than a decade. Joe gave me a chance to learn a trade, taught me the value in working hard, and allowed me the opportunity to earn a decent living at a time in my life when I really needed that help. He was always more than fair with me, even when I may not have deserved it.
I have a thousand great stories about my work days with Joe, mainly because he was such a BIG personality... always full of jokes and colorful stories.
He was famous for handing out nicknames to people and so he called me Putt-Putt. Some of my friends still call me that!
I haven't seen Joe for much more than a decade... something that I will always regret. I wish Kate and the kids all the best!
