I knew Lars when he moved to Fair Haven - 6th grade? Through part of High School. Good times, bad times. We listened to a lot of good old Rock n Roll music, loudly. I remember one bus trip to NY where Lars had a boombox along - and we were the only ones that could play music when we went through the tunnel - as all the other kids only had radios. Lars had a cool jacket that I think his brother Chris air brushed / painted - it was a sheep-lined jean jacket - and on the back was the owl from the album cover 'Fly by night' by Rush. He wore that jacket everywhere. We spent a lot of time hanging out at the local arcade, the Whistle Stop - and spent all our money. I was sad to discover this obituary - I had no idea - the last time I saw Lars was when he lived in Red Bank - some point in the late 80s. Glad to see that he found someone and it looks like he had his act together. Sorry that he's gone. That's Lars in the center of the photo - taken at the Whistle Stop - he's the kid with the blonde hair in the middle, beneath all the peace signs.

There are some people who, though we may never get to know them particularly well or stay in touch with them, leave their mark on us. Lars was one of those special few. I did a show with him many years ago and never forgot his kindness, talent and sense of humor. My condolences to all who loved him during this time of heartache and sorrow...may there be some small comfort in the fact that he will be remembered well by so many, even those of us who only shared a brief time with him.
