M. ELIZABETH DEVINE
AGE: 81 MIDDLETOWN
M. Elizabeth Devine, 81, of Middletown, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, at home. Born in Newark, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Middletown in 1973. She was a proud graduate of the Washington School for Secretaries. Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in New York and New Jersey. She also volunteered for many years at De La Salle Hall, a residence for retired Christian Brothers in Lincroft. Liz enjoyed spending time in her garden, but most of all she enjoyed being with all her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Devine, in 1988; three brothers, Maurice T., Charles and Anthony Dougherty; and two sisters, Suzanne Linn and Rita Dougherty. She is survived by her sons, Thomas and his wife Maryann, Matthew and his wife Joan, and Neil and his wife Jill; her daughter, Ann Mary and her husband Dr. James McCullough; her 11 grandchildren; her brother, Henry Dougherty; her sisters, M. Patricia Dougherty, Joan M. Montgomery, Irene M. Dougherty, M. Josephine Ziegler and Mary Bennett; and her devoted friend and companion, Louise Frazer.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday until the funeral at 9:15 a.m. at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory to the Christian Brothers De LaSalle Hall, 810 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738, would be appreciated.
